This week’s episode of Heroes - “Kindred” was good, bad, and funny all at once. Heroes is my favorite show on tv, so you should always take that into account when reading what I have to say about the episode. I love SUPER HERO shows, always have, always will.
Peter
This week Peter seems to be getting more control over his powers. Peter seems to be better able to control his powers when they come back. It’s like he knows exactly what he can do with his powers when he uses them. I imagine that they will come back quickly.
I didn’t understand why Peter wouldn’t want to learn his true identity. I guess they need to keep him around, because there is more to the Irish gang than what we know. Or maybe they just needed him around so they could send Peter on a date with Caitlin (see Heroes Comic Chapter 54 - Petrified Lightning). My guess is that the gang works for the company. What do you think?
Sylar
The fact that Sylar had no powers was both good and bad to me. I did have a sense of relief when I found out Sylar was powerless in the middle of the nowhere. However, many people think that Sylar is one of the greatest super-villains of all time. What good is he without his powers?
I was kind of glad that Sylar killed off Michelle (aka Candice (aka Betty)). I didn’t really like her freaky ability of being able to change what other people saw. Hopefully, Sylar doesn’t gain her power.
Claire and West
One of the things I really liked about Heroes last year was the way stories are resolved so quickly. It’s not like LOST where you are always LOST and you never seem to learn anything. I am glad that Claire found out about West’s powers so quickly. I still think West is a bad guy, but the story line is moving along well.
My favorite moment from the show was when West was joking around with Claire about not giving herself a manicure, that was funny!
Maya And Alejandro Please Meet Nikki
One interesting thing that I discovered (via the Heroes wiki) is that the Nissan Rogue that the prisoner is driving to help Maya and Alejandro escape has a bumper sticker with the logo for Costa Verde High School (the school Claire is attending). It also has a California license plate.
My least favorite thing from the show were the scenes with Maya and Alejandro. Maybe Nikki’s assignment is to kill them off. Wouldn’t that be cool? Although, if you watch the Canadian trailer for episode 4 (below), you know their fate looks a little worse than meeting up with Nikki.
Noah Bennet vs. Sylar
The thing that bummed me out the most from the show was that it looks like Mr. Bennet is going to be killed off. I like Mr. Bennet too much for them to kill him off. It would be funny if this played out like Season 1’s bomb scenario. The rest of the season Noah Bennet (HRG) tries to figure out how to save his life. It culminates with a showdown in the Season 2 finale that pits powerless Sylar against HRG in a fist fight. Sylar loses the fight and then when nobody is looking he gets dragged down a manhole again
Final Thoughts
I enjoyed Heroes Kindred. I would have enjoyed it a little more if they had shown the fight that Takezo Kensei had when Hiro left him to face a ton of enemies. While we are on the topic of Takezo, does anyone else think that Takezo is the hooded hero who killed Hiro’s dad?
Anyway, here are the previews for episode four of Heroes, entitled “The Kindness of Strangers” (the Canadian preview shows a lot more):
