I don’t know how many out in tvlandia watch So You Think You Can Dance… presumably enough that they brought it back for a second season. I didn’t really watch it last year because it was on at a bad time for television viewing for me. But this year I thought I would watch it. After all, last season when I DID watch my daughter really enjoyed watching with me (she always wanted me to vote for whoever was wearing pink). So, anyway I’ve been watching since the beginning of this season, and tonight’s show just made me write a blog. Well, actually my husband made me write a blog because he was tired of me sitting in here saying “But…” “I can’t believe…” “WHY?????”

Let me first say I recorded tonight’s result show. And, wouldn’t you know it, Fox cut off the last minute or so, so the last I SAW Stanislav and Ivan were standing on the stage together, and I thought, “Well, see ya Ivan. You seemed awfully nice. Too bad you had to dance ballroom right off the bat.” So, I came over to my trusty computer to confirm what I knew to be true, and… OUTRAGE!!!! Ivan was asked to stay, and Stanislav was sent packing.

Now, having read some of the boards to find out who was sent home, let me summarize what some think happened (other than my favorite theory– the judges went backstage to smoke crack before they made their decision). One, the prize for this year’s season may make the judges more likely to favor some contestants (this year’s prize is a year contract dancing in Celine Dion’s Las Vegas show). Two, Stanislav wasn’t versatile enough. Now, I know the judges say they were judging on everything up to this point, but, come on– if you want to see if the guy can dance something other than ballroom, here’s a quirky idea– Don’t give him BALLROOM for the first dance he dances. BAH!

Unlike others, I won’t be boycotting the show. After all, there’s still sweet Benji to watch. And Danielle, his partner– I like her, too. So, I’ll continue to watch. But look for future rants here if things don’t go my way.
