Last night the rockers were pretty good all around. In my opinion, there weren’t any horrible performances. However, there were four performances that stood out to me:
1. Dilana - Zombie
2. Phil - White Rabbit
3. Lukas - Let’s Spend the Night Together
4. Patrice - Helter Skelter
Dilana is phenomenal. Lukas looks so comfortable on stage, it’s like he already is fronting the band. To me Lukas and Dilana are the front runners. However, Phil keeps getting better every week and I think the guys in the band really like him.
Here is my quick synopsis of the show:
Patrice (Helter Skelter) - Excellent performance. I would like to see her drop her guitar and just sing, but she is still one of the top 5 in my book.
Josh (Come As You Are)- I like Josh, but he doesn’t seem right for the band. Did a good job singing Nirvana, but not a knockout performance like Jordis and Marty had last year singing Nirvana.
Storm (Just What I Needed) - Ummm… Let’s see how can I put this… Her singing is ok, she’s actually probably right behind my top 5 singing wise, but I am not overly impressed with her as a “rocker”. And errr… Storm’s performance style is shall we say “risque”.
Lukas (Let’s Spend The Night Together) - Lukas is awesome. Did a really nice rearrangement of the song to suit his hard rocking style. He might get the encore for that performance.
Jill (All Right Now) - She is a fairly good singer, but I don’t see her fitting in with the band. She also seemed to yell the song a little too much.
Ryan (Fortunate Son) - He sang really well. His performance style is a bit forced and I just don’t see him fronting Rockstar Supernova.
Phil (White Rabbit) - Jason Newsted played bass during Phil’s performance. Phil is getting better each week. He did an excellent job interacting with Jason and he is getting much better at performing. If his performance style gets up to par with his singing he could easily wind up fronting the band. One other thing about Phil is he looks a lot like a childhood friend of mine, which is another reaon I kind of like him.
Dana (It’s My Life) - She could win American Idol. She really has a great voice, but she doesn’t fit the band at all. They might keep her around another week, just because Ryan is so clearly not right for this band as well.
Toby (Runaway Train) - Toby was ok. To me this was his worst performance. I hope he kicks it back up a notch, because he seems like a really nice guy and he is definitely a good singer.
Magni (Plush) - Solid performance. He is getting better every week. I wonder if he was bad the first week, because of nerves?
Zayra (Everybody Hurts) - Phenomenal singing. She’s just not right for this band.
Jenny (Drive) - Not a good performance for her. She will probably be saved by the fact that she has been much better than this the rest of the time.
Dilana (Zombie) - Very intense, strong, excellent performance. Dilana is from here in Houston (3 of the performers are from Texas) so I have to root for her some.
The bottom three at the end of the show was Dana, Ryan and Jenny. Which was really no surprise. I think of those three either Ryan or Dana will go home. As I said earlier, Dana has an awesome voice and would have been much better suited for American Idol. Ryan just doesn’t have what they are looking for performance wise.
I think Ryan will go home, but I could be wrong. If Ryan does go home that will be the third man to go home, with all the women still in it. Which makes me ask the question:
“Are they looking for a female to front the band or just the best singer?”
Anyway, my vote for encore goes to Lukas, Phil, or Dilana. We shall see…
